Puzzle Parfum did not begin with market research but with a search. For years the painter and sculptor Tahir Cengiz Yatağan followed the missing pieces of life and poured that search into his paintings and sculptures.
“At no stop on my worldly journey did I say I had arrived. I kept tirelessly following the missing pieces of life.” — Tahir Cengiz Yatağan
Life is a puzzle
The name comes from this idea. Life is a puzzle, and each of us is looking for our own missing piece. The artist describes realising that the whole which appeared when he found the scattered pieces and put them in place was, in truth, the result of patience. Puzzle’s signature line carries the same thought: “With hope that you shall find the missing piece of your puzzle.”
Why scent?
The artist believes all five senses feed creativity, and that smell is the one that touches memory most. Scent can bring beauty, happiness and peace, and it can also change our perception and mood in an instant. As someone who believes in the energy of scents, he shaped the materials nature offers with his art and taste and created eight genderless perfumes.
Parts of a whole
The print on each bottle evolved from the artist’s own works. The bottles were designed as art objects that live on after the fragrance. The names of the perfumes were hand-lettered in calligraphy, each chosen to suit its meaning in life. Later, alcohol-free vegan solid perfumes joined the family.
Today
Puzzle is an independent, artistic niche fragrance house born in Istanbul. For Puzzle, scent is not just a pleasant impression; it is a journey, an inner remembering, an awakening that touches the soul.
