The Puzzle collection is made of eight genderless perfumes. Each name comes from the meaning the artist Tahir Cengiz Yatağan gives a concept in life, and the notes are chosen to carry that meaning. Here are the eight fragrances, in the artist’s own words.
Lal
A precious, bright red gem. For the artist, “a reminder of someone I will love until the day I die”. Clove and nutmeg on top, olibanum, patchouli and rose at heart, amber, vanilla, musk and sandalwood at the base.
Fibonacci
The golden ratio, the measure of proportion in living things. It reminds the artist of the role of numbers in the making of the universe. Bergamot, clove, cinnamon, nutmeg and saffron; violet, jasmine and black orchid; amber, vanilla, oud and patchouli.
Purgatory
“The stable and safe space between worldliness and spirituality.” Saffron, orange and plum; patchouli, orris root and rose; vetiver, agarwood, musk, amber and honey.
Sarcastic
Sarcasm, done wisely, is an attitude: a behaviour with its own identity and a symbol of uniqueness. Angelica and nutmeg; incense, tobacco and orris root; vetiver and cedar.
Daylight
A new beginning, an awakening after recovery, “starting a new day with a clean slate.” Lemon; rose, clove, tonka bean and orange blossom; amber, patchouli, caramel, vanilla and sandalwood.
Rayiha
The touch of the past on today with a delicate breeze; the belief that scent is an invisible bridge from heart to heart. Orange, orange blossom and violet leaf; lily of the valley and tuberose; amber, musk and cedarwood.
Gece
The moment when the quietest echoes of the soul are heard; a mysterious gate to an inner journey. Bergamot, eucalyptus and pepper; lilac, lily of the valley and rose; cedarwood, musk and vanilla.
Nagamani
The sacred stone of the serpent, a symbol of wisdom and awakening; an inner gem shining where darkness and light meet. Bergamot, lemon and orange blossom; lily of the valley and rose; amber, guaiac wood and musk.
